In May 2009 a friend’s mum, Carol Fear, passed away from ovarian cancer and then in June I lost my own mum, Ann Curtis, after her 3 year battle with the same disease. Since then I have met so many other people that have been affected in one way or another by ovarian cancer.
I’ve been training for the ride since January, riding between 60 and 120 miles per week. As I live in Devon, most of my training is on hills, which I think will help me in the more difficult regions of North Wales, Scotland and the southwest of England.
I'm sure this is going to be the most challenging thing I've ever done and I'm really excited (and slightly nervous!) about the journey ahead. I'm sure that when I'm out on the road and feeling tired, the thought that this charity ride will raise awareness and hopefully save lives will keep me focused and pedaling hard.
